Barangaroo Harbour Park

Barangaroo Harbour Park is set to transform 1.85 hectares of Sydney’s waterfront into a vibrant, nature-rich public space. Designed by the First Nations-led consortium AKIN—comprising Yerrabingin, Architectus, Jacob Nash Studio, Studio Chris Fox, and Flying Fish Blue, with Arup as engineering consultants—this project reimagines a former industrial site into a landscape deeply connected to Country and culture.

The park’s design features extensive native planting, interactive water features, and a 6,000-person capacity event lawn, creating spaces for community gathering, play, and reflection. Central to the design are three significant public artworks—referred to as ‘vessels’—that respond to natural elements like wind and moonlight, embodying Indigenous knowledge systems and storytelling.

Group DLA are engaged to provide Building Code of Australia (BCA) & DDA Accessibility Consultancy throughout the design and planning approval phases of the project, including the establishment of the Fire Engineering, Ergonomics and DDA Accessibility Performance approaches, including associated liaison with Fire Rescue NSW (FRNSW) & Local Authorities.
