Barangaroo Station + Precinct | Stage 2 + 3 Public Domain

The Barangaroo Station and associated Stage 2/3 public domain works, delivered for Sydney Metro, showcase a seamless fusion of world-class infrastructure, urban design, and place-making.

Designed by Foster + Partners and Architectus, and built by BESIX Watpac, the striking underground station—located 25 metres beneath the city—features six levels, 350 metres in length, and is clad in over 7,700 locally quarried sandstone panels, creating a bold civic arrival point into the Barangaroo precinct. The project also includes the transformative realignment of Hickson Road, extensive public domain upgrades with new pedestrian and cycling links, landscaping, and integrated artworks that honour the site’s cultural and heritage significance. With a project budget of $217 million, Barangaroo Station is not just a transport node—it’s a new urban destination connecting Sydney’s harbourfront to its vibrant city heart. Interface between TMO and station affecting design outcomes leading to requirement for Performance Solutions.

Group DLA were engaged as the BCA Consultant and DDA Access Consultant for several of the Sydney Metro projects, including Barangaroo Station and associated Stage 2 / 3 domain area providing external access from the main pedestrian approaches at the north and south of Hickson Road and key entry interface to Barangaroo Headland Park.
