Liverpool Civic Place | Yellamundie Library
The Liverpool Civic Place — featuring the stunning new Yellamundie Library — is a transformative $600 million development reshaping the heart of Western Sydney. Designed by FJC Studio (formerly FJMT), this landmark civic precinct integrates a new council administration centre, public library, community hub, childcare centre, commercial tower, and vibrant public spaces. While the overall project is known as Liverpool Civic Place, the Yellamundie Library proudly carries its own name drawn from the local Dharug language, meaning storyteller or place of stories, reflecting a deep connection to Country and culture.
What sets this project apart is its ambition to create a true civic heart for one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most diverse cities. With a bold curvilinear design inspired by the nearby Georges River, the project places sustainability front and centre — targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating, using all-electric systems, green roofs, and solar technology. As building certifiers, we’re excited to help deliver a precinct that balances architectural excellence, cultural expression, and long-term community benefit — setting a new benchmark for civic and urban design in NSW.
Group DLA were engaged to provide Building Code of Australia (BCA) consultancy throughout the design development phases of the project, including the provision of certification on behalf of the Crown. Our involvement also extends to the assessment of extensive Fire Engineering, Ergonomics and DDA Accessibility Performance Solutions, including liaison with Fire Rescue NSW (FRNSW) & Local Authorities due to resulting Fire Safety Order.
